My Dear Niece...

This is just an observation

Ever since your creation.

When I see you

Your innocence gives me hope

That your generation will benefit

From all of this you see

And in spite of all

The things going on around you

I need you to know how

Great you really are.

You are pure without defect

You haven’t been tainted yet

You have not learned to hate

And your tears are the

Beautifully innocent

Teardrops of love,

and as you get older

I want this world

To keep its promise to you

For all the things

it is supposed to be

Even if they didn’t

let it happen to me.

You are the dream King had

The any necessary means

While being the poem of freedom

Whispered off the lips

You are the future that

Was talked about by village elders

Who said a time will come when

She will change the world
